FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Center conducts research and provides scientific and technological services in the fields of soil resources, fertilizers, and soil environment in Southern Vietnam.

Its major responsibilities include:

1. Conducting soil surveys and evaluating soil fertility and land resources, as well as developing soil maps and land-use plans for Southern Vietnam.

2. Researching strategies to improve the efficiency of fertilizers, soil amendments, and cropping systems adapted to the natural conditions of Southern Vietnam.

3. Producing, testing, and assessing the quality of fertilizers and agrochemical products.

4. Investigating soil environmental conditions in Southern Vietnam and providing analyses, status assessments, and forecasts of soil environmental changes to support policy development and the formulation of management and remediation measures.

5. Promoting international cooperation in research and technological applications related to soils, fertilizers, and soil environment.

6. Providing training, scientific consultancy, and collaborative research with national and international organizations in the fields of soil science, fertilizers, and soil environment.

7. Conducting soil environmental monitoring in Southern Vietnam.

8. Ensuring the efficient management and utilization of human resources, facilities, equipment, and financial resources in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

 

History

• 1989 - 2006: Center for Soil and Fertilizer Technology Transfer (established under Decision No. 299 NN-TCCB/QĐ dated 18 July 1989).

• 2006 - Present: Center for Soil, Fertilizer and Environment Research for Southern Vietnam (established under Decision No. 524/QĐ/KHNN-TCCB dated 15 June 2006).

 

Achievement

SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL CONTRIBUTIONS

• 1989 - 2005: Implemented nine national- and ministerial-level research programs and projects, two international collaborative programs, and eleven research projects in cooperation with local authorities. Conducted field evaluations of approximately 200 fertilizers and newly developed agrochemical products to support agricultural production.

• 2005 - Present: Implemented two ministerial-level research projects and eight collaborative projects with local governments and stakeholders. Evaluated more than 800 fertilizers and new agricultural products, contributing to fertilizer management, product development, and sustainable agricultural production.

• Third-Class Labor Order awarded by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (2003).

• Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister of Vietnam (1997).

• Golden Rice Award (1991).

• Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (2006 and 2009).

• Certificates of Merit from the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province (1996 and 1998).

• Dong Nai Golden Star Award, conferred by the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province (2008).

• Medal for Contributions to Agriculture and Rural Development (2009).
