Microbial Soil Amendment
The Microbial Soil Amendment is a biotechnology-based product developed through research conducted under the National Key Program on the Application of Biotechnology in Agriculture, including the project "Development of Biological Solutions for the Improvement of Degraded Soils" and the project "Optimization of the Production Process for Microbial Preparations Used in the Rehabilitation of Coastal Sandy Soils."
Description
The product contains a consortium of beneficial microorganisms with complementary functions in improving soil fertility and enhancing crop productivity, including:
- Nitrogen-fixing microorganisms: Azotobacter chroococcum and Bradyrhizobium japonicum;
- Phosphate-solubilizing microorganism: Bacillus megaterium;
- Potassium-solubilizing microorganism: Paenibacillus castaneae;
- Polysaccharide-producing yeast for moisture retention: Lipomyces starkeyi.
- Each beneficial microorganism is present at a viable cell density of ≥ 1.5 × 10⁸ CFU g⁻¹.
Benefits
The Microbial Soil Amendment provides multiple agronomic and environmental benefits by:
- Enhancing soil fertility through improved nutrient cycling and soil biological activity;
- Increasing the availability of essential nutrients for plant growth;
- Reducing the requirement for nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers by approximately 10–15%;
- Improving the soil's water-holding capacity through microbial polysaccharide production;
- Promoting higher crop productivity and supporting sustainable agricultural production.
