On the morning of May 19, 2023, the Soils and Fertilizers Institute (SFI) welcomed Dr. Robert Caudwell - Chief Representative Office of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in Vietnam to visit. 

Representative of the SFI, there were Assoc. Dr. Tran Minh Tien - Director, and others experts, scientists of the Institute.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Minh Tien briefly introduced the SFI, as well as the Institute's scientific and technological potential, which are ready to cooperate and meet IRRI's programs and projects in the near future, and at the same time expressed his wish for both organizations to have more cooperation in research and training.

The two sides also discussed a number of key research topics in the coming time, including post-harvest treatment of rice straw, smart rice production that adapts to climate change and mitigation of development. greenhouse gas emissions, carbon storage, information technology application in rice production. During the meeting, many questions and issues were raised and discussed.

In the meeting, Dr. Robert Caudwell - Chief Representative of IRRI Office in Vietnam thanked the SFI for the warm welcome and expressed his delight at the Institute's achievements over the past 50 years. As Chief Representative of IRRI Office in Vietnam, Dr. Robert Caudwell hopes that through this visit, it will promote comprehensive cooperation between IRRI and the SFI, especially in the strategy of rice production in Vietnam.

After the meeting, Dr. Robert Caudwell visited the campus, Central Lab and the Soil Information and Reference Center.
