Meeting with Institute of Research for Development (IRD)- France

On November 8, 2021, the Soils and Fertilizers Research Institute (SFRI) had a working session with the Institute of Research for Development (IRD), France (Institut de recherche pour le développement – IRD). Director of the SFRI, Assoc. Dr. Tran Minh Tien; Deputy Director Dr. Nguyen Quang Hai and leaders of the Department of Science and International Cooperation and other researchers were attended the meeting. On the IRD side, Dr. Alexis Drogoul, IRD Representative in Vietnam and some other members were joined.
In the meeting, the SFRI briefly introduced the Institute's activities and representatives of IRD's researchers working at the SFRI also presented a number of collaborative studies between SFRI and IRD that have been and are being carried out. SFRI and IRD have a cooperation period of about 20 years, and have achieved a lot of successes in researching, exchanging, training and transfering. These are the foundations for the both organizations to continue further cooperation.
During the meeting, the SFRI and IRD highly appreciated the implemented results in the past period. Representative of IRD in Vietnam, Dr. Alexis Drogoul and Director of the SFRI, Assoc. Dr. Tran Minh Tien shared some information and discussed orientations in the coming period. Boths agreed to jointly participate in a number of research activities, focusing on soil ecology, soil health and application of remote sensing in research. The both organixations will also continue to carry out on-going research, develop new research, as well as seek opportunities to enhance capacity through graduate training and student exchange.
